Understanding how DINOCAVE-I classifies contact helps here: the terms describe the relationship you have with the enemy or their positions, not the tools you use to detect them. Direct contact means you’re physically or visually in contact with the enemy or in immediate engagement. Indirect contact refers to being aware of the enemy’s presence or location through information or observers without being in direct engagement yourself. Non-hostile contact covers interactions where contact exists but there is no hostile intent or active fighting.

Radar, by contrast, is a sensing capability. It’s a tool that helps detect and locate forces, but it isn’t itself a way you’re in contact with the enemy. It provides information that can lead to contact, but it isn’t categorized as a form of contact within DINOCAVE-I. That’s why radar is not listed as a form of contact.
